About Us

Northcare Suites is a purpose-built luxury care home which offers 76 generously appointed bedroom suites. It includes all of the usual comforts you would expect from Edinburgh’s finest care home such as warm and welcoming living areas, bright dining rooms all decorated to the highest standards of traditional taste with a modern twist. The bedroom suites, which are our clients personal space to rest and relax in, are as far from the traditional concept of a care home as you can imagine. All of our bedrooms at Northcare Suites are finished to the highest of standards and include large en-suite’s with rain head showers, double bed, call bell, telephone facility, high speed wireless internet connectivity and Sky TV facility.

Settling In

We take the time to get to really know our residents, both before they arrive at Northcare Suites and during their stay with us. Good communication is central to residents happily settling in successfully with us and we like to find out as much as we can. Upon arrival we discuss with our new client, and ideally also with their relatives, their background and complete a life story book. This enables us to provide personal care and dialogue that is tailored specifically to their needs.

We make sure that residents are always comfortable, reassured and dignified during their stay with us.

In House Salon

Our Hair & Beauty Salon is situated in the relaxing and beautiful surroundings of Northcare Suites. Our Salon’s approach is to support our philosophy of enabling residents to enjoy life to the full by providing combined hair, spa and beauty treatments within a familiar environment that is safe and secure.

Staff have many years of experience having gained their expertise, both academically and practically, working in some of Scotland’s best known salons.

Our Salon has the knowledge to work with all age groups, skin and hair types and our highly trained staff can always be relied upon to give a warm and friendly welcome while creating a moment of luxury.

Dining

Breakfast, lunch and dinner is served in the main dining rooms in Northcare Suites. We provide menus which are frequently reviewed to ensure that we offer nutritious well-balanced meals for our clients daily.

Northcare Suites has private dining facilities available with butler service for special events or celebrations. Menus can be developed by the head chef and tailored specifically to suit our clients and guest’s requirements

Afternoon Tea is served daily between 2pm and 4pm within the dining rooms of Northcare Suites. This service is complimentary for our clients and their visiting guests

Castle Cocktail Bar

Located on the 1st floor of Northcare Suites The Castle Cocktail Bar is open between 4pm and 8pm daily. We have a variety of cocktails available served by our experienced bar staff for our clients and their guests to enjoy.

The Brasserie

Located on the top floor of Northcare Suites The Brasserie is Located on the top floor of Northcare Residences, The Brasserie is an elegant, atmospheric and relaxed setting where our clients can host their visitors and enjoy some of our chefs fresh home baking served by our hosts. The Brasserie is also a well-used space for entertainment purposes for live music and special events. The Brasserie is open daily between 10am and 5pm.

Entertainment & Activities

We develop monthly activity programmes and schedules which include outings and regular entertainment including the use of our private cinema, music room & arts. Residents can book the cinema for private screenings for a special occasion or a select group of friends or family.Personalised activities are also developed to suit individual clients preferences.

Music Room

The music room at Northcare Suites allows residents to relax in comfortable surroundings while listening to some of their favourite music from any period.

Residents Gardens

The private gardens at Northcare Suites provide an opportunity for clients to escape the hustle & bustle of Edinburgh and to enjoy our beautiful outdoor surroundings. This secure area has been designed to maximise the garden space available and includes a wide variety of features such as meandering paths, BBQ patio, multi-purpose activity green, potting shed, greenhouse, sensory gardens and play park for visiting children.

Northcare are family run, and we take tremendous pride in operating a care home in Edinburgh that families truly appreciate for our compassionate care, outstanding services, and ultimately, keeping families connected.

Northcare has over 30 years’ experience in Scotland’s care sector. We provide a range of accommodation at our Edinburgh care home facility providing assisted living for over 65’s, and we offer specialist care for people living with dementia.

Our premises are purpose-built. At our Northcare Suites care home Edinburgh, we have accommodation and specialist staff to care for up to 76 clients.

All rooms are single, furnished with the finest interiors, to the highest of standards, and each have the conveniences of a modern home. Northcare Suites is truly among the finest care homes Edinburgh has to offer.

Our premises have four floors, three of which are residents’ rooms, and the fourth is our activities, leisure and entertainment rooms. The fourth floor has a library, salon, a visitor’s café, private dining room, and a cinema. Our facilities are available to residents and their visitors, such as reserving the cinema room to share private videos with your loved ones, on the big screen.

There’s also a music room for residents and their guests to relax, reminiscing to music from any period, such as listening to tracks on LP records.

Monthly Activities to Keep the Mind Engaged

Each month, the staff at Northcare Suites provide a range of activities for our residents. Some are within Northcare Suites, such as arts and crafts classes, others are outings supported by our carers.

Among many of our objectives is to strive for inclusion, both in our assisted living facilities, and in the community around us.

Our location is beneficial with local amenities being nearby and we’re served by regular public transport, making it easy for friends and family to visit.

Residents and their visitors can unwind in The Brasserie; our on-site restaurant, or in the Castle Cocktail bar that’s open daily between 4 pm and 8 pm.

Edinburgh remains one of the greenest cities in Scotland. Northcare Suites make the most of the cleaner air and greenspace by providing lush landscaped gardens for residents and visitors to enjoy.

In addition, we keep a well-maintained sensory garden letting residents experience the familiar sounds of birds humming, water features, and the scents from a range of plants, bursting with vibrant colours.

There’s also a putting green and a children’s play area on the grounds ensuring our residents are supported to continue building family memories with their loved ones.
